Spirit Bears and the Great Bear Rainforest

They are a very rare subspecies of the American Black Bear displaying a recessive gene which makes their fur white. It is rare to see one, but thanks to our guides, Lee, Lindsay and Gitga'at Spirit Bear legend Marven Robinson, we were able to see three Spirit Bears plus so much more!

Warrior
This is the Spirit Bear known as "Warrior". We found her in Gitga’at Territory while visiting the Great Bear Rainforest. This area in British Columbia is the only place in the world to find these strikingly beautiful bears. They are considered sacred to the First Nations people and it is easy to see why, they are stunningly white, especially so against the dark backdrop of the rainforest.
